FPC 2024 Elections Programming

The Foreign Press Centers provide foreign journalists with firsthand experience and insights into the U.S. electoral process. This year, the Foreign Press Centers will host elections-related programming, including reporting tours and briefings, for foreign journalists who hold an FPC Credential.  Please continue to check this page and/or your email (credentialed journalists only) regularly for updates.

Foreign Press Center Credentials

Foreign journalists traveling to the United States to cover the 2024 presidential elections can apply for an FPC credential.  This credential grants access to the FPCs’ events, facilities, and services in Washington, D.C. and New York, NY.  They are widely recognized by government and other organizations convening media events.

Reporting Tours

The Foreign Press Centers will offer reporting tours for journalists covering the U.S. elections.  These tours are extremely popular, and space will be limited. Journalists with an FPC credential will be provided instructions on how to register as soon as these programs are announced.

Briefing Series

The FPCs will offer a series of briefings with outside experts who will explain the federal electoral process in the United States, as well as related topics such as primaries and caucuses, nominating conventions, debates, campaign finance, and post-election constitutional processes.

Media Credentialing at the National Conventions

The Congressional Press Galleries vet and approve media credentials for both political conventions.  Media outlets will need to apply through one of the four galleries below.  The deadline to apply is April 12, 2024.

National Conventions

Additional resources regarding the conventions, and information about hotels and parking passes can be found at the following links:

Foreign Press Center Filing and Briefing Centers at National Conventions

As in years past, the Foreign Press Center intends to offer host a filing and briefing center at both nominating conventions for use by foreign journalists.

Note about election programming:  Foreign Press Center election programming is designed to facilitate coverage of the electoral process for foreign reporters.  The Foreign Press Centers and the Department of State do not endorse any party or candidate.  This programming is offered on an informational basis.  Participation in Foreign Press Center programming by briefers not affiliated with the Department of State or U.S. government does not imply endorsement, approval, or recommendation of their views. The views expressed by such briefers are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of the U.S. government.
