Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy Nathaniel C. Fick and colleagues will travel to Kyoto, Japan for the UN’s 18th annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) from October 8 to 12, 2023.  The United States strongly supports the IGF as the preeminent global venue for bringing together stakeholders through a bottom-up process to discuss solutions to Internet-related public policy issues that are rights-respecting, innovative, and empowering.

The United States supports a global multi-stakeholder approach to Internet governance that builds capacity for meaningful global connectivity and provides technical assistance and funding support for an inclusive, human-centric, and sustainable Internet.  The IGF is an opportunity to advance U.S. priorities and values on a broad range of digital policy issues and listen to the views and priorities of other stakeholders from around the world.  Ambassador Fick will meet with a range of partners to discuss how to take advantage of opportunities in the digital age while also mitigating risks.
