American International School of Kingston (AISK), founded in 1994, is a private, coeducational day school, which offers an educational program from preschool through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school year comprises two semesters extending from late August to mid-January and from mid-January to early June. AISK is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School accredited by Cognia.

Organization: The school is governed by a 12-member board of trustees including an ex-officio member (U.S. Ambassador or his/her designee). The school currently possesses tax-exempt status in the United States and in Jamaica.

Curriculum: AISK is a U.S. and international college-preparatory school. The IB Diploma Program is offered in grades 11 and 12. It is expected that all graduates will go on to colleges and universities in the United States, Europe, Canada, or their home countries. Instruction is in English, and the school offers English-as-an-Additional-Language instruction for elementary and middle school students. The school has a student support department. There is no religious instruction.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, AISK has 93 total staff including 55 teachers, 7 of whom are U.S. citizens, 36 host-country nationals, and 12 third-country nationals. Our faculty and staff represent 12 nationalities Jamaican, US, Guyanese, Dominican, Australian, German, Grenadian, UK, Canadian. All teaching faculty members maintain a teaching certificate/credentials from their countries of origin.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, enrollment was 285 (PreK-gr5 = 123; grs 6-8 =68; grs 9-12=94. Representing 43 nationalities). By citizenship, 74 are American, 88 of AISK students are Jamaican, and 123 are third-country nationals.

Facilities: The school has 32 classrooms, 16 in the lower school and 16 in the upper school including four science labs.  A STEM MakerSpace facility, Apple Mac computer lab and help desk, a media center, a music room, a two-story art studio, a dance studio, an outdoor stage, a café/canteen and an administration office complete the buildings on campus.  Sports facilities include a 25m swimming pool, full-size football (soccer) field, two tennis courts, a basketball court, an elementary playground, and an early years playground.  The school is located 10 minutes from the center of New Kingston and five minutes from the U.S. Embassy.

Finances: In the 2023-2024 school year, annual tuition fees are as follows: EYP $10,398; Kinder $12,674; Grs 1-5 $17,668, Grs 6-8 $19,576; Grs 9-11 $21,168; Gr 12 $23,668. Annual Capitalization Fee is $2,200. New students pay a one-time nonrefundable registration fee according to the following schedule: first child of family $4,500; second child of family $3,700; and third child of family $ $2,600. All fees are quoted and payable in U.S. dollars.
