Paris, France: American School of Paris: 2023-2024 Fact Sheet

The American School of Paris is an independent, coeducational day school, which offers an educational program from an early childhood three-year-old class through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school was founded in 1946 and was the first of its kind in Europe. The school year, extending from late August to mid-June, is comprised of two semesters.

School Mission Statement: The American School of Paris is a vibrant, international, family-oriented community. Our mission is to inspire and prepare every student to achieve personal and academic excellence as an engaged global citizen by providing a challenging, innovative program within a compassionate environment.

Organization: The school is governed by a board of trustees; each trustee is elected for a three-year term. The board appoints a head of school as the chief executive officer of the school. The administrative team consists of a director of finance and human resources; a director of admissions; a director of advancement; a director of community relations; the director of each of the three academic divisions: the lower school (K3-5), middle school (6-8), and upper school (9-12); a director of facilities and security; a director of athletics and activities; a director of the extension program; and a director of technology. The school is recognized as a non-profit institution under French law.

Curriculum: With a mission to inspire and prepare every student to achieve personal and academic excellence, ASP is a university preparatory school and offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) programs. Graduates matriculate in schools in the United States and around the world. ASP offers a range of academic support services to children with mild and moderate levels of need, including differentiated instruction, learning accommodations, and program modifications. English-as-an-Additional-Language (EAL) services are available for students with limited English language skills. The school offers French language learning at every grade and proficiency level and makes extensive use of Paris and surrounding regions as cultural and curriculum resources.

Co-curricular: Offerings are varied and numerous for all ages and include sports, drama, music, student government, robotics, journalism, and service- learning clubs.

Accreditation: The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council of International Schools.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, American School of Paris has 244 total staff including 128 teachers, 54 of whom are U.S. citizens, 40 host-country nationals, and 34 third-country nationals. Our faculty represent 25 different nationalities.

Enrollment: As of September 2023, enrollment is 810. Of the total, 291 were U.S. citizens, 128 were host-country nationals, and 128 were third-country nationals.

Facilities: Facilities on the 10-acre campus on the edge of Paris feature totally new or newly renovated learning spaces including a tech shop and STEAM Innovation Center, robotics lab, science and discovery labs, collaborative spaces, purpose-designed outdoor learning spaces to facilitate play-based learning for younger students, two libraries, two cafeterias, two gymnasiums including a personal training center, a large outdoor athletics field, an arts building housing all ASP art genres including music studios (choral, instrumental, and electronic), and a professional-grade performing arts center seating 400. There are 838 school-provided computers across the school for student use, and information technology is fully integrated throughout the school.

Finances: Annual tuition rates for 2023-2024 are as follows: K3: €20,550; K4: €27,680; K5-grade 5: €32,870; grades 6-8: €37,925; and grades 9-13: €38,560. The school also charges an annual security fee of €1,840, a bus transportation fee of €3,970 to €4,410, an application fee of €1,400, and a capital assessment fee of €12,200 on a one-time basis for new students.
