Elizabeth (Liz) Konick, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, assumed the role of Executive Director and Deputy Executive Secretary in the Office of the Secretary of State in May 2023.  Prior to this assignment, she was the Deputy Executive Director in S/ES-EX. Liz has served at U.S. missions in Turkey, Portugal, Serbia, and Mexico.  As Principal Officer in the Azores, she expanded relationships between U.S. business investors and sustainable food resources.  In Washington D.C, her assignments have included Executive Director for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR), INR Watch Director, Political Officer in the Office of European and Union and Regional Affairs (EUR/ERA), and Management Officer in the Operations Center. Prior to joining the Foreign Service in 2003, she worked to launch and develop U.S. brands overseas including Coach, Reebok, and Avis. Liz is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a master’s degree in education from New York University. She speaks Turkish, Serbian, Romanian, Spanish, and German.
