Lucia C. Piazza

Lucia Piazza is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service currently serving as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Talent Management (GTM) at the U.S. Department of State. Immediately prior to this assignment, Lucia served as the Director of the Foreign Service Board of Examiners. Before that she served as Principal Officer in Calgary, Canada. Other senior positions she has held include Director of Crisis Management in the Operations Center and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Management. Lucia also served Uganda, Togo, Nigeria, and Tunisia and domestically she served in the Bureau of African Affairs and the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Lucia received a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College, National Defense University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire. She speaks, with varying levels of proficiency, Italian, French, Spanish and Arabic.
