Marc Shaw (1)

Marc Shaw joined the Bureau of Arms Control, Deterrence, and Stability as Deputy Assistant Secretary in 2022, after serving as Deputy Executive Secretary in the Department’s Executive Secretariat.  During his more than 20 years in the Foreign Service, Marc also has served in leadership positions as Director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan; Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Banjul, The Gambia; and as Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela.  Earlier in his career, Marc completed tours in Pakistan, Burma, Iraq, Japan, and Honduras.  Marc holds an M.A. in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. in Economics from Emory University.
