The U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) joined GLIFAA*, Department family members, and friends to participate in the 2019 Capital Pride Parade and Festival, Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, 2019.

During the Saturday afternoon parade, the group walked the 1.5 mile route alongside more than 200 organizations to show support for the LBGTQ+ community.

Sunday afternoon, foreign and civil service DSS employees operated a recruitment booth at the Capital Pride Festival, sharing the mission, heart and history of DSS, and its work to safeguard diplomacy around the world.

DSS and GLIFAA colleagues connected with the community, showing support for each other and highlighting the diversity within the Department of State.

*GLIFAA represents lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender personnel, their families and their allies (LGBT+) in the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Foreign Commercial Service, Foreign Agricultural Service, Peace Corps and other foreign affairs offices of the U.S. government.
