Each day when the sun rises anywhere in the world, it is greeted by the men and women who protect the people, information, and facilities that are the lifeblood of American diplomacy. Others are protecting and saving countless lives through law-enforcement actions and investigations.

Many of these individuals have given their own lives to support the mission of the most widely represented U.S. security and law-enforcement organization in the world—the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS).

Located at DS headquarters in the Washington D.C. area, the DS Memorial publicly honors employees and contractors—U.S. citizens and foreign nationals—who lost their lives in the line of duty while in service to Diplomatic Security. Currently, 156 individuals are included on the DS Memorial.
