Organization: The school is governed by a 15-member board of directors, all of whom are elected by the general assembly composed of all EA parents who have children enrolled in the school. The board members are elected for three-year terms, and they appoint the school director. The board also includes an appointed member from the U.S. Embassy.

Curriculum: The school provides a U.S. college-preparatory curriculum with 28 electives and 20 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, three college credits courses (dual enrollment) through the University of Bridgeport and junior and senior students can take One School House online courses if approved. The school is accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and by the Salvadoran Ministry of Education.
