The International School of Prague (ISP) is an independent, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school was founded in 1948. The school year extends from late August to mid-June.

Organization: The school is governed by a nine-member volunteer board of directors, eight of whom are appointed by the board, and one of whom is appointed by the U.S. Ambassador.

Curriculum: The international curriculum aims to meet the needs of learners from many different countries through a North American program model. ISP has an international, competency-based, mission-driven PK-12 curriculum, rooted in inquiry where learners are involved in posing and investigating questions. Our learning program offers students the lifelong understandings and skills that enable them to be successful at ISP and in their educational and professional pursuits in the future. Instruction is in English. The school offers the following modern languages: Czech (ES only), French, German, and Spanish. English-as-an-additional-language support is also offered. ISP offers students the opportunity to obtain International Baccalaureate Diploma (DP) and/or DP course certificates while earning an ISP high school diploma. We also offer the IB Careers Related Program (CP). ISP is a candidate school for the Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program and and anticipates authorization as a full IB Continuum School by January 2024. Our Early Childhood Foundations (ages 3-5) learning program adheres to a “Reggio-inspired” philosophy. Committed to continuous improvement and ambitious aspirations, ISP is accredited by the New England Association of Schools’ Commission on International Education. ISP is also authorized by the Czech Ministry of Education to provide mandatory education in compliance with the Czech Education Act.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, ISP has 233 total staff including 115 teachers, 54 of whom are U.S. citizens, 14 host-country nationals, and 47 third-country nationals.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, enrollment was 940. Of the total, 169 were U.S. citizens, 191 were host-country nationals and 580 were third-country nationals.

Facilities: ISP is in a purpose-built facility set in the natural beauty of the Mala Sarka valley on the outskirts of Prague. The purpose-built ECF 3 to Grade 12 campus includes “The Hub” – a modern library with an attached, technology-focused “Idea Lab” – two gymnasia, a theater, a cafeteria with hot lunch service, outdoor learning education facilities, age-appropriate playgrounds, outside basketball and tennis courts, and two all-weather playing fields. The entire campus benefits from Wi-Fi and technology integrated in the school curriculum, with iPads for lower elementary students and personal laptops available to students throughout middle and upper school.

Finances: In the 2023-2024 school year, the school’s income derives from regular day school tuition and registration fees. Annual tuition rates are as follows: ECF3: 332,000 CZK; ECF4: 332,000 CZK, ECF5(kindergarten)-grade 5: 542,000 CZK; grades 6-8: 587,000 CZK; grades 9-10: 639,000 CZK, and grade 11-12: 658,000 CZK. In addition to the tuition and CAF listed above, new students pay a newcomers’ fee of 52,000 CZK (ECF5 through grade 12).
