The holiday season can be difficult for many, and the Bureau of Medical Services (MED) encourages all members of the foreign affairs community to look for ways to support those around us.  That includes looking for signs of mental health challenges and encouraging those in need to reach out for support.   Actions, no matter how big or small, can show that we care and may provide hope to people experiencing suicidal thoughts.  If you or someone you know needs help, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline offers 24/7 assistance by dialing 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).   A list of international suicide hotlines can be found here: http://www.suicide.org/international-suicide-hotlines.html.

In addition, MED’s Employee Consultation Service is available at 202-634-4874 or by emailing MEDECS@state.gov.
