Welcome New REO

It is the Office of Overseas Schools’ (OS) pleasure to announce a new Regional Education Officer (REO) joining the team. Ms. Catarina Song Chen will be joining OS covering the Caribbean and leading OS’s efforts on Strategic Initiatives.  Ms. Chen is looking forward to providing support to the schools and to U.S. Embassies and Consulates throughout her region and building special needs programs in assisted schools across the world.

Ms. Catarina Song Chen new REO for the Caribbean and Strategic Innovation.

Ms. Catarina Song Chen is a true Third Culture Kid (TCK)—born in South Korea, grew up in Asunción, Paraguay, and is a citizen of the United States.  She is an international educator with more than 15 years of experience leading an assisted school in Brazil, an author, and a member of various global educational institutions and organizations.  In 2015, she was awarded the National Distinguished Principal Award.  Ms. Chen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Pepperdine University, a Fellowship from The Klingenstein Center, Teacher’s College at Columbia University in New York, and is enrolled in the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School in Philadelphia.  Ms. Chen is fluent in English, Portuguese, Korean, and Spanish, and recently moved from Belo Horizonte, Brazil.  She lives with her husband and two children.
