QSI International School of Montenegro (QSIM) is an international, coeducational day school that enrolls over 120 students from over 31 countries around the world. QSIM, one of 35 QSI schools around the world, offers an American-model, college-preparatory education in the English language for students from three to 18 years of age (PK through HS). The school’s educational philosophy, which includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for mastery to ensure success for all students in a positive learning environment.

Organization: Quality Schools International, a nonprofit entity that operates 35 schools in 31 countries, supports QSIM. the school is accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is fully licensed by the Montenegrin Ministry of Education. QSIM is a test center for Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT) and Advanced Placement (AP) Tests. The school is a member of the Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) where students participate in athletic and academic competitions.

Curriculum: QSIM’s college-preparatory secondary program prepares students for success in universities around the world. As an Advanced Placement (AP) school with a strong teaching staff, the curriculum is augmented by online coursework through the Quality School Virtual (QVS) network for additional AP courses. The school offers three diplomas – the general diploma, the academic diploma, and the academic with honors diploma. QSIM is an AP Capstone diploma school. Students enrolled in the 3- and 4-year-old (prekindergarten) program engage in a variety of play-related and hands-on experiences designed to develop leaning readiness, physical coordination and development, and the social skill necessary to be successful in a classroom setting. elementary, middle and high school students take a full program of mathematics, reading and language arts, science, cultural studies, art, music, technology, and physical education. Classroom technology is integrated with the curriculum at all levels. Montenegrin language is taught in the elementary grades. French and Spanish languages are offered to the middle and high school students. Recent graduates have attended universities such as University of California Berkeley, Virginia Tech, University of Florida, Arizona State, Polimoda (Italy), Maastricht University and University of Ljubljana.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, QSIM has 28 total staff including 20 teachers and a school nurse, 11 of whom are U.S. citizens, 7 host-country nationals, and 2 third-country nationals. All teaching faculty maintain certification at the top certification level available in their home country. All faculty maintain 1st Aid/CPR/AED certification and are trained in Child Protection.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, enrollment was 122 students. Of the total, 40 are U.S. citizens, 29 host-country nationals, and 53 are third-country nationals.

Facilities: QSIM is a 10-minute drive from the Podgorica city center. Purpose-built in 2021, the school is equipped with large classrooms with plenty of natural light, a cafeteria, stage, kitchen, rooms for art and music, science laboratory, library, playground, large field for outdoor sports, administrative offices, and a parking lot. The campus is entirely fenced, is guarded 24/7, and has internal/external video surveillance. The school is in the process of building a classroom/gymnasium facility on the current campus.

Finances: In the 2023-2024 school year, approximately 95% of the school’s income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PK: $5,300 and grades K-12: $26,000. There is an annual $1,600 capital fund fee for students enrolled in K-12 classes. There is a one-time $300 registration fee.
