QSI International School of Sarajevo (QSIS) is a nonprofit international school serving diplomatic, development, and business families from around the world. QSI International School of Sarajevo was opened in September 1997 to provide a quality educational program for students of all nationalities attending preschool through grade 12. The school year is comprised of three terms, extending from August to June.

Organization: The school is governed by the Board of Directors of Quality Schools International, the membership of which is formed as set forth in the Bylaws of Quality Schools International. An advisory board, composed of parent members who reside in Sarajevo, advise the school in its operation. The school operates with the approval of the government of the Canton Sarajevo and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Curriculum: QSI International School of Sarajevo offers an outcomes-based educational program. The curriculum is based on U.S. national standards with the addition of foreign languages beginning at the five-year-old level. Students take a full academic program, including core subjects such as English, literature, mathematics, science, and cultural studies as well as various additional courses such as library, music, art, physical education, technology, and foreign languages (French, German, and Bosnian). Advanced Placement courses are offered in a variety of subject areas such as calculus, biology, French, German, literature, computer science, physics, and history. The secondary program follows an American-style, college-preparatory curriculum including Advanced Placement classes. In 2018, QSI International School of Sarajevo launched the AP Capstone Diploma program, designed by the College Board, to equip students with skills vital for academic success at University. The program consists of two key courses, AP seminar and AP research, and at least four other AP courses.  Holders of the AP Capstone Diploma have a significant advantage in the university acceptance process and may receive college credit for the AP classes they have successfully completed in high school. A full 100% of graduates plan to attend a four-year university. In addition, QSI International School of Sarajevo offers after-school programs, including various athletics (soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country, track and field, etc.), Model United Nations, robotics, student government, Roots & Shoots, and many other activities. QSIS is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, QSIS has 52 total staff including 33 teachers, 13 of whom are U.S. citizens, 17 host-country nationals, and 3 third-country nationals. 100% of teaching staff have teaching certificates or diplomas from their countries of origins.

Enrollment: During the 2023-2024 school year, enrollment reached 164 students (PreK: 9; Lower Elementary (grade k-2): 35; Upper Elementary (grade 3-5):47; Middle School (grade 6-8): 32; Secondary School (grade 9-12): 41.). Of the total, 72 are U.S. citizens, 20 are host-country citizens and 71 are third-country nationals.

Facility: QSI International School of Sarajevo occupies a fully renovated school, in the main city center in Sarajevo. There are 24 classrooms, a sport center with a gym, fitness room, showers and changing rooms, school kitchen and cafeteria, auditorium with foyer, library, two computer labs, two science labs, a small garden area, two outdoor playgrounds, one indoor playground and an office suite.

Finances: During the 2023-2024 school year, annual tuition rates are as follows: PK: $4,500 (full day), $2,300 (half day); and K-Grade 12: $25,000. The school also charges an annual nonrefundable capital fund fee of $1,600 per student in grades K-12 only and a one-time registration fee of $300 for all students. Scholarships are available. Busing, to and from most areas of the city, is available for an additional fee. The buses have seat belts and bus monitors ride the buses at all times. A hot lunch is available for an additional fee; students may choose to bring their lunch from home or buy a lunch. These fees are payable in U.S. dollars. (All above fees quoted in U.S. dollars.)
