Yerevan, Armenia: QSI International School of Yerevan: 2023-2024 Fact Sheet

The QSI International School of Yerevan (QSIY) is an independent, coeducational day school, which offers an educational program to children of all nationalities ages three to 18. Each school year is comprised of three terms.

Organization: The school is governed by the Board of Directors of Quality Schools International, the membership of which is formed as set forth in the Bylaws of Quality Schools International. An advisory board, which assists the school in its operation, is composed of six to ten members who reside in Armenia and are appointed by the president of Quality Schools International and the director of the QSI International School of Yerevan.

Curriculum: As with all QSI schools, the educational philosophy is founded upon the premises that: 1) all students can succeed, 2) success breeds success, and 3) it is the responsibility of the school to provide the conditions for success.  The school offers an outcomes-based educational program with a curriculum similar to U.S. public and private schools. Instruction, leading to individual mastery, takes advantage of small class sizes and the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. Instruction is in English. Courses include English, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, Russian, French, Armenian, Spanish, computer, art, and music. Soccer, basketball, track, dance, chess, and other activities are offered as after-school activities. The academic program uses a performance-based/mastery learning approach to learning. The high school offers the AP Capstone program along with numerous AP courses. There is a very active student council and Model United Nations club. QSI Yerevan is also a National Honor Society Charter (NHS).  Secondary students from QSI Yerevan have been admitted to top universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and various European countries.  The school is fully accredited in the United States by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA).

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, QSIY has 56 total staff including 25 teachers, 15 of whom are U.S. citizens, 8 host-country nationals, and 7 third-country nationals. All teaching faculty maintain a local or international certificate/credential from their country of origin. The majority of our foreign hire staff are from the US, Canada, and the Armenian diaspora. Most teachers have graduate or post-graduate degrees.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, enrollment was 172 students, with 32 U.S. citizens, 22 host-country nationals, and 114 third-country nationals.

Facilities: Located in a purpose-built facility constructed in May of 2011, the building contains 25 state-of-the-art classrooms and includes a library, a science laboratory, an art room, a music room, a computer lab, and a spacious cafeteria/theater. The school completed a technology upgrade, adding interactive projectors in every classroom, new chrome books, iPads, and computers. There is also a new playground system for ages four to twelve and a new weight room.

Finances:  In the 2023-2024 school year, the school’s income derives from regular day school tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: Preschool (3-4-year-old class) Registration Fee – $300, Tuition PreK – $ 6,500, Total – $6,500, K-12 (5-year-old class) Registration Fee – $300 Capital Fund Fee- $1,600, Tuition Fee 5+ – $26,000 Student Activity Fee – $200 Total – $27,800.These fees are payable in U.S. dollars.
