Secretary Blinken’s Call with Democratic Republic of the Congo President Tshisekedi

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke to Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi today to congratulate him on his re-election. The Secretary encouraged President Tshisekedi to address the concerns raised by election observation missions by taking steps to promote confidence in the democratic process going forward. The two leaders also discussed the ongoing crisis in eastern DRC and a path forward for a diplomatic solution.
