Tashkent International School (TIS), an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational, day school from preschool through grade 12. TIS was founded in 1994 by the United Nations Resident Coordinator and the Ambassadors of the USA, UK, German, French and Korean embassies to provide quality education in English for children of the diplomatic corps, international corporations, and local families. The school year consists of two semesters, extending from mid-August to late January and from late January to early June. The school calendar includes three breaks: one week in October, three weeks from mid-December to the first week of January, and one week in March. This is intended to provide general information. Prospective users of the schools may wish to inquire further of A/OPR/OS or contact the school directly for more specific and up-to-the-minute information. Information and statistics are current as of December 2023 and provided by the school.
