The International School of Amsterdam (ISA) is a globally-recognized leader in educating for international understanding. Founded in 1964, ISA was the first school in the world to offer all core IB programs from the age of 2 to 18.

Organization: A nine-member board of trustees governs the school. Five are elected by the parents of enrolled students for a three-year term, and four are appointed by the board.

Curriculum: The ISA curriculum is firmly grounded on the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs—the Primary Years (PYP/ages 3-11), the Middle Years (MYP/ages 11-16) and the Diploma Program (IBDP/ages 16-18), allowing our students to benefit from a continuum of education from Pre-School through high school, while also offering flexibility to best reflect the particular needs of our internationally-mobile students. In addition, ISA offers a Nursery program (ages 2-3) for our youngest learners. The language of instruction is English. Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish are offered as additional languages.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 academic year, there are 316 staff members, including 233 teachers. Of the total, 60 are U.S. citizens, 50 are Dutch citizens, and 123 are from other countries. Faculty members are highly qualified and experienced teachers holding one or more advanced degrees.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2023–2024 school year, enrollment was 1,256 students. Of the total, 289  were U.S. citizens, 168 were host-country nationals, and 799 were third-country nationals. There are students from 60 nations.

Facilities: One campus, purposefully built to facilitate learning. Located in the city of Amstelveen, ISA’s green and spacious campus includes many state-of-the-art facilities: Early Childhood-devoted facilities
144 square meter theatre, 3 gymnasia, 3 libraries, playgrounds and outdoor learning spaces, subject area collaborative learning spaces, and a professional development center.

Finances: The annual tuition rates for Nursery through Grade 12 range as follows: €19,900 to €28,565. In addition, the school charges a capital fee of €3,075, a €300 application fee, and a PTA fee of €35 per student.
