In June 2022, President Biden announced the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, or “Americas Partnership,” at the Summit of Americas in Los Angeles, California. The Americas Partnership charts a path forward to tackle economic inequality, foster regional economic integration and good jobs, and restore faith in democracy by delivering for working people across the region.

In November 2023, President Biden brought together the leaders of the APEP countries at the White House to “Increase opportunity and decrease inequity; to harness the incredible economic potential of the Americas; and to make the Western Hemisphere the most economically competitive region in the world.  Together the leaders of the APEP nations declared

  • Launching a new investment platform to channel billions of dollars in financing for sustainable infrastructure
  • Standing up a new accelerator program to support and steer investment to hundreds of up-and-coming entrepreneurs
  • Providing grants to expand infrastructure and social services for migrants and their host communities
  • Helping develop a robust regional workforce in the digital technology sectors of the future
  • Creating a new fund to catalyze investment in innovative climate financing solutions

Key Initiatives Announced at the November 2023 Summit include:

Ministerial to advance the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity

On January 27, 2023, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and United States Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai co-hosted a ministerial level event to advance the Americas Partnership with representatives from the initial Western Hemisphere countries who will join them to endorse the principles and goals of the initiative.
