Chad is emerging from half a century of regional conflict and internal turmoil, and is pursuing better governance and development. Chad is currently at risk of violence spilling over from Libya, the Central African Republic, and Nigeria. The Chadian Government is taking steps to improve infrastructure The U.S. established diplomatic relations with Chad in 1960, following its independence from France. Chad’s exports to the U.S. are dominated by oil, while imports from the U.S. include machinery, plastics, and cereals. The U.S. does not have an investment treaty or a bilateral tax agreement with Chad. This includes 382,590 Pfizer and 170,300 J&J doses. Of the 552,890 vaccine doses, 100% were donated in partnership with COVAX. The United States is committed to leading an international and coordinated effort to accelerate access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines to meet global needs. The United States is working with other governments and partners including COVAX, Caricom, and the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) to protect communities from COVID-19 and apply lessons from this pandemic to enhance health security now and in the future.
