  • An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a voluntary, work-based program that offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees who have personal and/or work-related problems.

  • EAPs may address a broad and complex body of issues affecting mental and emotional well-being, such as alcohol and other substance abuse, stress, grief, family problems, and psychological disorders.

Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)

APHIS’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a professional counseling and referral service designed to help employees and family members with problems on and off the job. United States Commercial Service (CS)

The Commercial Service’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all managers, employees, and their families and is designed to address individual, team, and organizational problems. EAP services and contacts with individuals or families are confidential and using the EAP has no impact on an employee’s job status. The services are free and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, call 1-800-222-0364. In person counseling may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

Department of Defense (DOD)

Military OneSource

Military OneSource provides comprehensive non-medical counseling support and information to Service Members and their families on every aspect of military life including deployment, finances, reunions, relationships, grief, spouses, employment, education, parenting, and childcare. Defense Attaché Office (DAO) Employee Assistance Program

DAO’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides short-term counseling and crisis intervention for DAO Service Members, civilians, and dependents with tailored health and wellness workshops (resilience, sleep, stress management, etc.). Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

HHS’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) understands that employees may face challenges that can adversely affect their overall well-being. Becoming overwhelmed or stressed by relationships, school, health, finances, work, family, or other issues is not uncommon. This can impact their quality of life, health, and work.

To support federal employees with any challenges they might face, Federal Occupational Health (FOH), a component of the Program Support Center (PSC), provides robust counseling through the EAP.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The CDC/ADSTR Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a no cost, confidential, and professional counseling service for employees, family members, and retirees. It provides easy access to problem assessment, short-term counseling, support and referrals.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

DHS’s Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) provide a variety of useful resources to DHS employees and their families, including dependent care resources, financial consultation, legal aid, counseling services, and referrals to a variety of other service providers.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

The CBP Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can assist with professional, confidential counseling to better equip employees to deal with life’s challenges. Services are provided free of charge to CBP employees and eligible family members. For help dealing with a personal or work-related problem, contact the EAP at 1-800-755-7002. Participation in this program is confidential.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

ICE WorkLife program offers free and confidential programs that promote and support the health and wellbeing of employees and families. Employees do not need management approval to use these services. In addition, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential counseling at no cost and referral services that can help employees and their families successfully deal with life’s challenges. ICE employees can receive up to six EAP sessions for any one issue/concern in a 12-month period. Eligible family members can also receive EAP services. Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

The TSA Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides services designed to help employees, managers, and organizations meet life’s challenges and remain healthy, engaged, and productive. TSA’s EAP offers short-term confidential counseling and referral for issues that are affecting an employee’s ability to work. The EAP will either address an employee’s concerns during counseling sessions, or they will refer them on to appropriate community resources, counselors, and other supports. United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

USCIS’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) may be reached at 1-800-222-0364 or (1-888-262-7848 TTY) or visit the Federal Occupational Health website FOH4you. In addition, USCIS offers access to the Work/Life services program, WorkLife4You, that is available 24/7 to all USCIS employees and members of their household to help with daily life needs. Work/Life Specialists are available to provide expert consultations, comprehensive educational materials, and prescreened, customized referrals to providers nationwide concerning childcare, adult care, schools and financial aid, fitness centers, pet care, relocation assistance, home services, and more. U.S. Secret Service (USSS)

The USSS Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers short-term confidential counseling and referral for issues that are affecting an employee’s ability to work. The EAP will either address an employee’s concerns during counseling sessions, or they will refer them to appropriate community resources, counselors, and other supports. Department of Justice (DOJ)

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF)

The Department of Justice offers Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services and resources to Federal Department of Justice employees and their eligible family members, including confidential counseling and referrals. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)

The DEA Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential service providing DEA employees and their family members with mental health consultations, preventive education, brief counseling, crisis intervention, traumatic incident response, and referrals to community resources to deal with problems in their work and personal lives. United States Marshals Service (USMS)

The Department of Justice offers Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services and resources to Federal Department of Justice employees and their eligible family members, including confidential counseling and referrals. Department of State (DOS)

Employee Consultation Services (ECS) offers free, confidential counseling with professional clinical social workers to Department of State employees and family members. They can assist with job stress, marital and relationship problems, parent and child problems, single parent and blended family concerns, school adjustment problems, elderly parent concerns, separation, loss and grief, acute and chronic medical illness, depression, anxiety, and other emotional problems, financial concerns, life transitions, new career/retirement issues, and pre-post departure and reentry concerns. WorkLife4You (WL4Y) is the Department of State’s 24/7 comprehensive and confidential resource and referral service for employees and their family members. WL4Y provides free 24/7 education, and referral services that help Department of State employees and family members find the programs, providers, information, and resources they need to manage personal and professional responsibilities. Counselors will help determine what services are needed and available and refer to appropriate providers. Call them for 24/7 personalized assistance, read articles and educational guides on their website, order topic related kits, engage in monthly live talks, watch webinars, and listen to audios or ask for a free in-person elder care assessment from a qualified Professional Care Manager.

Department of Transportation (DOT)

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

FAA’s WorkLife Solutions program, which includes Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services, is available to help FAA employees. No situation is too big or too small. When an employee or their household members need assistance, they may reach out anytime and the EAP will help get them on the right path to meet their needs. Department of the Treasury (USDT)

The Department of Treasury provides free, confidential, voluntary Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services for all its employees. These services include up to six counseling sessions, newsletters, crisis counseling 24 hours a day / 7 days a week, referrals to local resources, counseling for family members, etc. Call 1-800-222-0364 (TDD 1-888-262-7848) to talk to a crisis counselor or to make an appointment. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

The IRS is committed to helping employees balance their work and family life. Therefore, they make free employee assistance services available to all employees and their immediate family members around the clock (24 x 7) to help with everyday challenges affecting their personal and professional lives. These services, provided by ComPsych Corporation, help families overcome stressful life issues and personal concerns. Employee assistance services include free, confidential counseling to address a variety of personal issues that employees and their dependents may be facing — from marital conflict, stress, grief/loss and depression to alcohol and drug abuse. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) also provides free information and resources for legal, financial, eldercare, childcare and other issues employees or their family members may face. Employees should contact their HR Office and/or visit the agency’s internal site to access EAP log-in information.

Peace Corps (PC)

The Peace Corps Employee Assistance Program (EAP) supports employees and their families in navigating changes within their personal and professional lives. Services include legal, financial, work-life, and counseling support, and are provided at no and/or reduced cost to eligible participants. Services are confidential and participation is optional.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
