The ISAB is sponsored and overseen by the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security, Bonnie D. Jenkins. The Board provides its recommendations to the Secretary of State through the Under Secretary. Board members reflect a balance of backgrounds, points-of-view, and demographic diversity and include a wide variety of scientific, technology, military, diplomatic, and political backgrounds. The Board meets in a plenary session two or more times per year. The ISAB is established in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), 5 U.S.C. Appendix.
