Established in 1954, Lincoln School is an independent, coeducational day school, providing an American college-preparatory curriculum for students in preschool and prekindergarten to grade 12. Lincoln School has a long-established tradition of student-centered education founded on best practices and offers small class sizes, an outstanding international faculty and support staff, and a community-oriented learning environment that fosters the well-being of the whole student. The school year consists of 180 days, which are divided into two semesters. The first semester runs from August to December, and the second semester runs from January to early June.

Organization: The school is governed by a nine-member board of directors; seven voting members and two ex-officio members that include the Lincoln School Director and US Ambassador’s representative. Lincoln School is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Curriculum: Lincoln School provides a complete academic program with supportive and engaging classroom environments for students PS-12. The school provides a comprehensive range of student services including a whole-school counselor, college and university counselor, OT/PT, Social worker, Director of Student Life and Wellness, academic support and ESOL teachers, a speech and language specialist, two school nurses, a college counselor, as well as a student advisory program. The medium of instruction is English; the elementary program offers Nepali language and culture classes and the school offers French and Spanish language beginning in grade 6. The early childhood program serves children 3 and 4 years of age balancing creative, social, and foundational academic learning. Grades K-5 are student-centered classrooms with a focus on whole-child development. The middle school curriculum offers a strong emphasis on inquiry and problem-solving skills and an innovative, student-centered program of exploration. The high school provides a wide range of core and elective courses. Lincoln offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in 13 subject areas. Computer technology is integrated throughout the learning program with lower elementary students using classroom iPads and upper elementary students using classroom laptops, and the school operates a Bring Your Own Device program for students in grades 6-12. Art and music are available to students at every level. The school maintains an extensive activities program with offerings in athletics, fine arts, performing arts, swimming, leadership, technology, and other after-school activities. The whole school service learning program provides all students with opportunities to engage in community partnerships and meaningful service learning initiatives. These include the Service Nepal program where students work with local communities for service learning projects and experience the environmental and cultural wealth of Nepal.

Faculty: In the 2023-2024 school year, Lincoln School has 87 total staff including 43 teachers, 31 of whom are U.S. citizens, 1 host-country nationals, and 11 third-country nationals representing USA, Australia, Canada, Denmark, United Kingdom, Japan, and Nepal. Lincoln School faculty are certified educators in their area of teaching holding varying post-secondary education degrees ranging from bachelor’s to master’s degrees.

Enrollment: The 2023-2024 enrollment is 270 (PS: 16; K-grade 5: 122; grades 6-8: 54; and grades 9-12: 78). Of the total, 82 are U.S. citizens, 86 are host-country nationals, and 102 are third-country nationals.

Facilities: The school has 33 classrooms in three buildings, a theater, a gymnasium, and a library media center, all equipped with BlueAir filtration units and serviced by wireless Internet. Other facilities include an outdoor all-weather field, court, and rooftop athletics and play areas. A new three-story library media center and heated 25 by 15 – meter swimming pool were completed in August of 2015. Lincoln School transports students and faculty to and from school using their fleet of vans and buses which are fitted with BlueAir filtration units and are supported by GPS tracking and radio communication.

Financials: In school year 2023-2024, annual tuition rates are: PS: $10,090; K-grade 5: $27,875; grades 6-8: $30,730; grades 9-11: $33,850; and grade 12: $33,975. Lincoln School charges a one-time application fee of $100 for PS and $450 for grades K-12, and a one-time new student capital fee of $9,500 for grades K-12. Other fees include a transportation fee of $1,300 for grades PS-12.
