U.S. Assistance to Nepal

Officials from Nepal and the United States meet regularly at the highest diplomatic levels to discuss a variety of issues including: assistance provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the largest bilateral donor in Nepal; Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) coordination and implementation; trade (including technical assistance); security and defense cooperation; and humanitarian assistance and disaster response.

Bilateral Economic Relations

The United States and Nepal have signed a trade and investment framework agreement, providing a forum for bilateral talks to enhance trade and investment, discuss specific trade issues, and promote more comprehensive trade agreements between the two countries. The U.S. delivers COVID vaccines to Nepal.

COVID-19 Vaccine Deliveries

Since July, 2021 the United States has donated 13,693,940 safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine doses with the people of Nepal. This includes 12,159,090 Pfizer and 1,534,850 J&J doses. Of the 13,693,940 vaccine doses, 100% were donated in partnership with COVAX.

The United States is committed to leading an international and coordinated effort to accelerate access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines to meet global needs. The United States is working with other governments and partners including COVAX, Caricom, and the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) to protect communities from COVID-19 and apply lessons from this pandemic to enhance health security now and in the future.
