POD Opportunities

The Office of Global Partnerships routinely recruits U.S.-based participants to partake in Partnership Opportunity Delegations. These highly curated, multi-day agendas of bilateral meetings, roundtables, and private networking events explore areas for meaningful collaboration and partnerships to advance priorities in specific sectors and policy areas.

POD participants may include a diverse range of companies, start-ups, academia, financial institutions, philanthropic organizations, not-for-profits, diasporans, ecosystem developers, and other USG partners. PODs are not trade delegations, though commercial opportunities are part of the broader scope. Travel and hospitality expenses for POD participants are typically born by the individual/organization, not by the Department of State.

All upcoming calls for POD delegates are posted on this page and our Linked In page.

Partnership Opportunity Delegation (POD) on Deep Tech Inclusion

London, United Kingdom
May 20-24, 2024

This Partnership Opportunity Delegation (POD) to London, United Kingdom, will explore the theme “Deep Tech Inclusion” to create business-government and business-business partnerships in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, and synthetic biology. The POD will engage an inclusive set of smaller and more diverse deep technology companies and research institutions in the United States and United Kingdom.

The largest technology platforms have the financial and human capital to overcome the greatest challenges in AI, quantum, and synthetic biology and other critical and emerging technologies. Yet, the deep tech startups and scale-ups in the United States and United Kingdom who will define the next generation of U.S.-UK leadership in these technologies may struggle with the challenges of raising investment capital, commercialization, talent acquisition, workforce development, and human capital mobility. The POD seeks to create and develop partnerships at an earlier stage with and between startups and scale-ups, as well as ensure that these partnerships include engagement with women founders and founders from diverse backgrounds.
